About

Embry-Riddle Experimental Rocket Propulsion Lab (ERPL)

The Experimental Rocket Propulsion Lab (ERPL) is a student-run organization dedicated to designing, building, and testing liquid rocket propulsion systems from the ground up: engines, feed systems, data acquisition, and fully integrated flight vehicles. Students experience hands-on learning through a wide range of projects spanning liquid propulsion, avionics, and flight systems.

This year, our flagship goal is launching MOE, a liquid bi-propellant flight vehicle targeting 60,000 ft and speeds over Mach 2, aiming to set the record for the highest flying, successful bi-propellent collegiate rocket flight.

What We Do:

  • Electronics designs and builds all hardware and firmware for engine firing, remote actuation, flight computers, and ground stations. The team designs and assembles all of our circuitry in-house, as well as commands and controls our propulsion systems during testing.
  • Fluids builds and operates propellant feed systems for both our test stand (Draco), and the MOE flight vehicle, while supporting hotfire and waterflow testing.
  • Engines designs, manufactures, and tests all rocket engines, including Triton (~1000 lbf, Ethanol/LOX), MOE’s flight engine, and advanced designs like Saguaro (composite chamber) and R.E.D. (regenerative cooling).
  • Public Relations manages ERPL’s social media and website, livestreams testing, and creates content to connect ERPL with sponsors, students, and the public.

Funding Needs:

We're seeking $10,000 in funding to maintain our test fire schedule. Our next test fire is scheduled for August 2026. Your support enables us to purchase the critical materials, sensors, avionics, and structural components necessary to launch MOE, fund hotfire campaigns, and support a safe and fully functional rocket lab for students at Embry-Riddle. Every contribution directly fuels student-driven, cutting-edge rocketry development. Learn more about ERPL at https://erpl.space/.
