Embry-Riddle Experimental Rocket Propulsion Lab (ERPL)
We design, build, and test liquid rocket propulsion systems from the ground up: engines, feed systems, data acquisition, and fully integrated flight vehicles. This year, our flagship goal is launching MOE, a liquid-fueled rocket targeting 60,000 ft and speeds over Mach 2, aiming to set the record for highest flying, successful bi-propellent collegiate rocket flight.
What We Do:
- Electronics – Designs and builds all hardware and firmware for engine firing, remote actuation, flight computers, and ground stations. Developing and testing flight-critical systems throughout the semester.
- Fluids – Builds and operates propellant feed systems for both our test stand (Draco) and the MOE flight vehicle. This semester: support hotfires, complete MOE cold flow, and develop a new vertical test stand.
- Engines – Designs, manufactures, and tests all rocket engines, including Triton (~1000 lbf, Ethanol/LOX), MOE’s flight engine, and advanced designs like Saguaro (composite chamber) and R.E.D. (regenerative cooling).
- Flight – Builds and launches our testbed rocket to validate onboard electronics and recovery systems, finalize MOE’s flight body, and begin full vehicle construction.
- Public Relations – Runs social media, livestreams tests, and creates content to connect ERPL with sponsors, employers, and the public.
Funding Needs:
We're seeking $8,000 in funding to maintain our test fire schedule. Our next test fire is scheduled for November 15, 2025. Your support enables us to purchase materials, sensors, avionics, and structural components for MOE’s development, fund hotfire campaigns, and support a safe and fully functional rocket lab for students at Embry-Riddle. Every contribution directly fuels student-driven, cutting-edge rocketry development. Learn more about ERPL at https://erpl.space/
