Senior Eagle Scholarship, Fall 2019

The graduating Senior Class Council of Fall 2019 is raising funds for the Senior Eagle Scholarship. We will be awarding students with a scholarship to help with any expenses that may be an obstacle on their way to the finish line.

The Scholarship

For graduating seniors, anticipation grows day by day as the commencement ceremony creeps closer. Although an exciting time, it can also be financially challenging for many. The Senior Eagle Scholarship seeks to alleviate some of that burden for upcoming graduates. Every semester, beginning in May of 2013, assistance has been provided to an outgoing senior based on need and merit so that they may overcome their monetary hurdles. In the short time since its inception, over $5,000 has gone into the hands of those that most require the aid. The Scholarship recently became endowed, but for the next three years, it remains the obligation of the managing organization (the Senior Class Council) to raise the required funds for disbursement.

The Impact

Recipients often work one or more jobs throughout their University career to make ends meet. This award can enable the students to pay a final month of rent, car maintenance to get to class, moving costs, or anything to set up Embry-Riddle’s future alumni up for success. With graduation so close after so much hard work, financial issues would be a regrettable reason not to reach the finish line. It is the community's duty to support those who put in their due diligence to reach the distinguished goal of graduation. Based on the scholarship structure, donations do not just help the upcoming recipient, but all recipients to come.

The Senior Class Council

The Senior Class Council (SCC) is composed of a group of students who will walk across the stage during commencement this semester. In appreciation of all of the support that the Embry-Riddle community has given them, and on behalf of the entire Senior Class, the Council raises funds for the Senior Eagle Scholarship. This serves as the class gift and is executed with the honor and hope of continuing a legacy.

Fresh on Campus

As freshmen we came in timid but eager. Unsure but excited. We overcame our worry with temporary bursts of confidence. "This seems to be where I belong — after all, everyone really likes planes and space."

Second Year Struggles

Many of us moved off campus during our second year, which meant trying to cook, encouraging roommates to wash their dishes, and a scented candle or two. $20.19 represents the year of this upcoming graduating class. Thank you for supporting them!

Junior - Almost There!

By the third year, we're in the thick of it. Balancing heavy workloads, our health, and social life seems impossible. Keep your chin up!

Sensible Senior

They say we're old and wise but really we just do a better job of managing and hiding our stress. And at last, graduation is right around the corner.

My Parking Pass

Buying a parking pass is easier than finding a parking spot!

Super Senior Success

Well... we didn't make it out in the 4 years as we planned — but that's alright. We love what we're doing and searching for the silver-lining: we get to stay closely involved in the Riddle community a little while longer.

Forever an Eagle

Looking back at our time at Riddle, we know that it was precious. How could it be that we graduated 6 months ago? Fifteen years? Three decades? However long it was, we really do miss it. Thank you for giving back in such a remarkable way.
