What an amazing day! As some of you may already know, our Golden Eagles Flight Team just won their 11th National Championship at NIFA SAFECON in Columbus, Ohio, competing with the top university teams in the nation this week. As you can imagine the team is ecstatic with their victory and happy that all their hard work and sacrifices paid off big time. As always, this was an incredible team effort, and they are very appreciative of the continuous support that they receive from the you all, the Flight Department, College of Aviation, Campus and University.
Here are the overall results:
1st place: ERAU-Prescott with 500 points
2nd place: University of North Dakota with 400 points
3rd place: Southern Illinois University with 361 points
Our team captured 1st place in Ground Events as well as 1st place in Flying Events. Numerous individual awards, including Top Scoring Contestant Award and National Top Pilot Award both earned by team captain Nick Moore. Keep an eye for additional details to come through campus media and others.
Plans to honor Dick Samuels continues! This will also honor the Golden Eagles Flight Team past and present and future by reaching our final goal of $100,000 to support flight instructor scholarships. With this goal we will be putting his name on a building: The Dick Samuels Flight Instructor Building.
Please continue spreading the word! We can't wait to have a celebration when we reach our goal, during Octoberwest 2017, with your help!!!
