ERAU Motorsports

Who We Are:

ERAU Motorsports is a student organization on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach Campus.  The organization is made up of students varying in year at school, major of study, and experience with cars.  The goal of ERAU Motorsports is to help further student's education outside of the classroom in a fun and competitive environment.  Each academic year ERAU Motorsports participates in the multi-faceted Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Design Series.

What We Do:

Every August when students are coming back to class, members of ERAU Motorsports are meeting and beginning the year-long competition for the Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Design Series Formula SAE. For the next two semesters students from around the university come together to design from scratch and then build an open wheel and open cockpit style autocross racecar. After the two semesters of design and manufacturing, the students pack up and travel to Michigan International Speedway to compete against 119 teams from around the world. This 4-day competition contains multiple business presentations, design judging, and performance tests for the vehicles.

Why We Need Your Help:

When we travel to competition we have enough funding to take those seniors (12 members) who have been crucial in the design and construction of our car. We are looking for funding to bring more of our members to our competition. There are a lot of younger, freshman and sophomore, members who put in countless hours to help us who usually do not have an opportunity to go with us. With your help we will be able to take these younger members with us so they can get some competition experience. This experience is important to help build member's confidence and prepare them to take positions of leadership. We hope to raise enough money to take 8 - 10 more members. The cost for each member for the week is as follows: $500 for lodging, $100 for transportation costs, $125 for meals.
