Senior Eagle Scholarship Fall 17 Campaign
For graduating seniors, anticipation grows day by day as the Commencement Ceremony creeps closer. Although an exciting time, it can also be financially challenging for many. The Senior Eagle Scholarship seeks to alleviate some of that burden for one of the upcoming graduates. Every semester, beginning in May of 2013, assistance to the amount of $500 has been provided to an outgoing senior based on need and merit so that they may overcome their monetary hurdles. In the short time since its inception, over $5,000 has gone into the hands of those that most require the aid. The Scholarship recently became endowed, however for the next three years, it remains the obligation of the managing organization (the Senior Class Council) to raise the required funds for disbursement.
Recipients often work one or more jobs throughout their University career to make ends meet. The $500 can enable the ability to pay a final month of rent, car maintenance to get to class reliably, or much needed groceries. With graduation so close after so much hard work - financial issues despite every effort to overcome them, would be a regrettable reason not to reach the finish line. It is the community's duty to support those who put in their due diligence to reach the distinguished goal of graduation. Based on the scholarship structure, donations do not just help the upcoming recipient, but all recipients to come.
The Senior Class Council
The Senior Class Council (SCC) is composed of a grouping of students that will walk across the stage during Commencement at the end of this semester. In appreciation of all of the support that the Embry-Riddle community has given them, and on behalf of the entire Senior Class, the Council raises funds for the Senior Eagle Scholarship. This serves as the class gift and is executed with the honor and hope of continuing a legacy.
