Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - Las Aguilas Chapter is dedicated to providing its members at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a professional environment encouraging mutual respect. Our members are constantly offered opportunities for personal and professional development by offering several community service, social, and cooperative relations events and one national conference in the fall semester. The chapter also aims to create a sense of 'familia,' in which its members can bond together and create everlasting connections inside and outside of university life.

The gift of $5,000 will directly support our chapter's participation in the 2026 SHPE National Convention during October 28-31. As our main professional event of the year, the convention offers unmatched professional development, networking, and career opportunities for our members. Thanks to previous support from SGA and sponsors from Lockheed Martin, we fully funded registration and lodging for 29 students last year. With this new investment, our goal this semester is to expand our reach and send 40 members to the convention, fully removing financial barriers and empowering the next generation of Hispanics in STEM careers. The funding would be directly allocated to the cost of the convention tickets and lodging during our 4 days of stay in Indianapolis, Indiana.
