Gifts to Daytona Beach Society of Women in Space Exploration contribute to...
The purposes of The Society of Women in Space Exploration is to create a community, network and support system for young women interested in pursuing space-related fields. This organization is intended to promote space exploration through multidisciplinary collaboration. We intend to do this through industry tours at space companies, guest speakers, volunteering opportunities, networking, mini projects, events with local grade schools and more!
Past funding from the SGA and fundraising efforts within our club have created incredible opportunities for our members and allowed us to expand both the reach and quality of our programming. This support has made it possible for us to host signature events such as our Sally Ride Night, which celebrates women in STEM and inspires students across campus. It has also helped us bring in professionals through events like Chat with an Astronaut, giving members the chance to connect with and learn directly from leaders in the space industry. Additionally, funding has supported unique experiential opportunities, including our Kennedy Space Center VIP tour, which provided hands-on learning and career exploration that many students would not otherwise be able to access. Overall, this support has allowed us to create meaningful, engaging experiences that empower our members and strengthen our community.
SWISE has grown significantly over the past year, but with that growth, funding can sometimes be a challenge. For example, for our biggest event of the year, we had to request additional support from SGA to provide catering. We are committed to giving our members the best possible experiences, and we don't want limited funding to hold us back from continuing to grow and offer high-quality events. Thank you for considering SWISE this year during Ascend Day of Giving!
