Gifts to Daytona Beach Food Pantry contribute to...
The Embry-Riddle Food Pantry offers an essential service by providing food and basic necessities to Daytona Beach students as needed. One-hundred percent of your generous donations go directly to providing non-perishable food items, fresh meal kits, fresh fruits and vegetables, juice, milk, eggs, credits for hot meals on campus, personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies.
Since 2022, records show that there have been more than 5,000 visits to the pantry, with a large spike during holidays and long weekends. The pantry has served more than 800 students (close to 10% of our student population). Our resources go to students across demographics, including veterans, military science students, student-athletes, international students, and those students who are using their scholarships and wages from their employment for tuition, academic endeavors, and other living expenses.
The need for students with food insecurities is even greater than the requests received so far, so expanded outreach efforts have resulted in more students reaching out. The students served have been skipping meals, not eating regularly, or eating unhealthy and non-nutritious foods on a regular basis. They have been also been lacking in personal hygiene items and basic cleaning supplies.
The Food Pantry, with the generous support of the Embry-Riddle community and thoughtful partnership with the university food service, Sodexo, has been successful in filling in the gaps and providing the basic services our student need to thrive.
